Our History

Primary Colors Early Childhood Center LLC began as a licensed childcare home in 1997. At that time it was called Primary Colors Summer Enrichment Program and it was a huge success. Unfortunately it was only open during the months of June - August of each year because the owner had to return to her teaching job in September. But despite having to open the center in June and close it in August in order to return to work each year; it was always the owner's dream to one day open a year round facility.

MISSION STATEMENT

The goal of Primary Colors is to provide a high quality preschool program for children ages 2 ½ to 5 years old. We strive to achieve this goal by providing a safe, clean, stimulating, and developmentally appropriate environment with nurturing staff that values and respects all children, their families, different cultures, social backgrounds, and religious beliefs.

VISION STATEMENT

At Primary Colors, our vision is for our youngest learners to be prepared to meet the demands of formal schooling. We recognize that children grow and develop at different rates; therefore, we will strive to meet and nurture the individual needs of each child enrolled in our program. We are committed to supporting each child’s cognitive, social, emotional, intellectual, and physical needs as we help them learn how to live, play, and work cooperatively; as they begin their journey into becoming life-long learners.

At Primary Colors, we are committed to developing a strong home-school connection and becoming partners with parents/guardians while educating them with the knowledge of what a high quality preschool program looks like by leading thru example.

At Primary Colors, we plan to seek and maintain strong community partnerships that will support our efforts in creating one of the highest quality preschool programs in the Metro Detroit area.

PHILOSOPHY

At Primary Colors, we believe in a holistic approach to early childhood education. We believe that children learn a multitude of things through play. Play is a child’s “work” and that’s why we have developed an excellent theme based play program which allows children to freely explore and learn from their play experiences. In addition, we also embrace the importance of young children acquiring important pre-academic skills before they begin formal schooling. So in addition to a well-structured play environment, we also offer a well-structured pre-academic curriculum program. Our curriculum prepares your child for kindergarten and allows him/her to learn, play, and work in a developmentally appropriate environment.
